From the district that brought you the Digital Advantage come six new initiatives that expand on Project Graduation
The Digital Advantage, uses laptops as an incentive to increase the graduation rate and bridge the digital divide. High-schoolers earn laptops by achieving the four A’s: Academics, Attendance, extracurricular Activity and Attitude (no out-of-school suspensions).
Digital Advantage Parents Family Plan
Laptops will be provided to families of middle and high school students based on attendance of all students in the family, academic achievement and parent participation in workshops and computer training.
8th Grade Digital Scholars
A newly-launched program for 8th-graders. Students who qualify will participate in a summer college-prep program, earn a laptop and take Honors courses in ninth grade.
5th Grade 1-to-1 Computing
One 5th-grade class in each of the district’s 14 elementary schools will be provided with laptops for online learning.
Dropout Recovery
An online, alternative-learning program which offers students who have dropped out an opportunity to earn a high school diploma. Visit volver.susd12.org.
Teacher Laptop Initiative
Stimulus funding for 1:1 computing will be used to assign a laptop computer to every Sunnyside District teacher.
Economic Development
This plan aims to stimulate the local economy by connecting Sunnyside families and students to small businesses that sponsor the Digital Advantage.
